Emergency Info
All counselors are CPR and First Aid certified. Your child’s safety is our top priority. Please ensure emergency forms are fully completed, especially if your camper takes medication or has any medical or behavioral conditions. All information will be kept confidential and used only if needed. Staff are not trained to administer medication, so please arrange for any required medications to be given before or after camp. Our staff—typically college-aged—are not trained to support severe behavioral needs. If you have questions or concerns, contact Duncan at (530) 623-6004 x222.

Campers will swim once per week at Lowden Park Pool. On swim days, pick-up is at 2:00 p.m. at the pool or between 3–4 p.m. back at the Young Family Ranch. Swimming is free for all campers. A signed TCRCD Swim Permission Form, Release of Liability, and Lowden Park Pool Rules agreement are required for participation. Campers will need a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and optionally goggles. No toys, please.
Field Trips
Field trips are a highlight of our program and offer exciting educational experiences. All age groups will visit the swimming pool weekly. Additional field trips for ages 8–12 may include:
- Rafting the Trinity River with Six Rivers Rafting
- Swimming at Canyon Creek or the North Fork Trinity River
- Hiking to Lake Eleanor in the Trinity Alps
- Exploring the Weaver Basin Trail System
- Visiting One Thing Ranch (llamas & alpacas)
- Meeting the U.S. Forest Service Pack Mules
Parents will receive full field trip details before camp begins. Some trips may require a later pick-up time—this will be communicated well in advance, along with any required clothing or gear.
We can’t wait to meet your kids and make unforgettable summer memories together!
Warmly,
Duncan McIntosh

60 kids participated in Weaverville Summer Day Camp in 2021! Campers learned about salmon, prescribed fire, gardening, composting, shelter building, Nor Rel Muk Wintu culture, wildlife, community and more! Older campers had the opportunity to explore Canyon Creek, the Weaverville Community Forest, and took a rafting trip down the Trinity River.
Camp would not have been possible without the support of volunteers, community donations, and partnering agencies. The Trinity County RCD would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Trinity River Community Partners, Bureau of Land Management, Friends of Trinity County Resource Conservation District, Schmidbauer Lumber, Ivan the Pack Mule and all of our individual donors for their generous contributions.

A special thank you to Pat Frost and Carol Fall for their countless hours of dedication to developing and maintaining the Youth Garden at the Young Family Ranch.
In 2005 Trinity County RCD began the popular Weaverville Summer Day Camp, which is held at the Young Family Ranch. Each year we hire local high school and college students as counselors, giving many the opportunity to work at a “real” job for the first time.
